It’s a beautiful day here at the studio. I’ve always loved Texas and days like today remind me why. The birds are singing, the bees are buzzing and I’m over here feeling like Snow White. It’s a rare occasion! But the point of today’s post is to let you know what’s going here at the studio.
First, I will be attending Oysterfest in Fulton, Tx. next weekend (March 3-6). I will be there with Bigfoot Hydrographics working on a very special tumbler. If you’ve never seen a space unicorn, you should come check it out! I would love to say hello or discuss ideas while I’m there so don’t be shy. I’ve never been to Oysterfest so I’m excited to be going for the first time. It’s a pretty big deal and I know we’ll be super busy all weekend.
Second, I’ve had some extra time off from my commission work with Bigfoot to spend some time reflecting on my own art and the direction I wish to go. I have been trying to objectively asses my own work, which is crazy and I don’t recommend it to anyone. The conclusion I’ve come to is this: I am capable of producing multiple styles in multiple media, but that doesn’t mean I should consider all of them as integral pieces in my repertoire. This means I will be paring back and trying to pour my focus into those that I feel BEST reflect where I am as an artist at this stage of life. This, in turn, means that I still have work to do on the website and Facebook page.
Third, and most importantly I am deeply grateful for all the goodness in my life. It’s so easy to get bogged down by the news, friends, or even family. This week has been a lovely reminder that though all may not be right in the world, all is right in MY world and for that I should be thankful. If you’re reading this, I would like to ask you to take a deep breath and picture something in your life that you love. I hope it makes you smile, if it did- I have done what I intended. A smile is a wonderful thing that should be shared- so from this happy momma and her family to you- SMILE!
